E-commerce Plan EC-1
This plan is targeted at first time commerce customers who want to put 15 or less items on line. Real time credit card processing is available as an add-on, but everything can be done off-line. This is the perfect plan to get started with commerce and test the waters.

E-commerce Plan EC-2
This plan helps merchants with less than 100 items get on-line. Real time credit card processing is not built into the product. This plan is also good for people getting started online and those with more items to sell, but who do not have a high volume of transactions to offset the costs of implementing online processing.

E-commerce Plan  EC-3
This plan supports an unlimited number of items and includes the Merchant Payment Center (see below). This plan is ideal for merchants with a large catalog of items (over 100 products).  For serious e-commerce merchants.

Merchant Payment Center

Merchants who want to accept and authorize credit card payments in their online store have the option of signing up for Merchant Payment Center. Merchant Payment Center consolidates and automates the tasks of establishing a merchant bank account and accessing an Internet payment gateway for transaction processing. Merchant Payment Center's merchant account services are provided through RapidSite's partnership with Bank One. * Merchant Payment Center included with EC-3 plan type.

When you sign up for a plan, Mercantec will send you a CD which includes the PGP encryption software for the client machine. Until you receive the CD, you will be able to demo the software, but you not be able to receive orders securely until you have the PGP Client Key. When you fill out the license agreement for the software, the PGP Key will be sent to the address that you list in the sign up process. Pick the right address for yourself or your client.

For International dealers, Mercantec has received the export license for their PGP encryption and we are pleased to be the first company to offer their product internationally.  Due to U.S. export restrictions on encryption technology, we are not permitted to sell this product to people in the following countries: Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria. If you are a dealer in one of these countries, we will shortly be offering Open Market's ShopSite commerce product which does not have the PGP encryption. You will be able to use this product to build a commerce website as soon as it is available.


The following add-on modules are available on the Mercantec SoftCart Ecommerce plans and can be requested by contacting RapidSite's support department directly:

  • Clear Commerce Module: Clear Commerce is a turn key real-time credit card processing application. With one simple application, your online store is automatically configured and can begin to take online transactions. This module is installed with all EC 3 plans and is optional for all EC 1 and EC 2 Plans. (An additional $40/month - does not include discount rate or per transaction fees)
  • Drop Ship Module: If your company has many divisions in different locations, this module will allow for the order to go to the appropriate location. Retail Price: Additional $20.00 per month. 
  • QuickBooks Module: Gives the ability to use Mercantec with the Quickbooks program. This gives you the ability to track the sales and revenue through this well known program. Retail Price: Additional $15.00 per month.
